Thank you, Pam. Virginia Greasley, Lyndall’s neighbour. She encouraged me to register it. I’ve sent the photo as a mystery, around the world. A Norwegian friend recognised it, saying she had seen them there. A friend in Sydney thought it would be fungal, though I gave no indication it was even a plant. Thanks for your encouragement.

Nothing like an entertaining fungus!! It can be such a surprise when these spring out of the ground at you. Good description of what they look like.

Great picture of the Smooth Cage which carries its spore mass, or gleba on the inside of the white arms. Some of which is still visible in your image.
