This is the carrion beetle Ptomaphila perlata but this is not an option in the dropdown list and I can't add it. Silphidae

Possibly Arctiinae, feeding on lichen or herbaceous plants, or Dermestidae feeding on dead insects. But now we will never know.

If you want a larva identified: you have to take it into protective custody and rear it to an adult. Otherwise noone is any the wiser and its a waste of time.

Sorry, these are the only photos I have. I think that what looks like jaws, are very thin front legs - they are hairy, and a lighter colour
