Native violet flowers are so variable that leaves are needed for identification. I have seen flowers of Viola betonicifolia that look like this.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a Viola fanatic, always looking at the flowers to distinguish hederacea from banksii. That one's definitely hederacea, with the pale violet bleeding into the white and the notch in the lower petal. Also the forest location is typical of hederacea.
