Hi Narelle ... nice find! This is the caterpillar of the beautiful Orchard Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio aegeus). And, from its posture and colouration, I'd say it is just about to pupate! If you can, perhaps take a shot again in a day or so .. the pupal case is really amazing!

Oh, and this is a native species. They are normally found in wet, open forest but have also adapted quite nicely to gardens and orchards ... hence the common name.
