This eucalypt is doing very well on our land in the gully. I suspect it is a hybrid of Sydney Blue Gum and Coastal Grey Box as was told to me by my ex-forester neighbour
Nope, that thick flaky looking bark is typical of E. botryoides, which doesn't only grow on beach dunes, but is widespread in sheltered sites (gullies, creek flats). North of Batemans Bay it allegedly hybridises with sydney blue gum, which are the big smooth bark trees that are obvious along the Princes Hwy in gullies. You wouldn't get a box and a blue gum hybridising, as they are in different sub-genera of eucalyptus.
