My mother said that this plant is native so I believe her because she is very sweet+truthful+positive.

Yeah, well it is, but not to here. I'm pretty sure it is Banksia robur from the north coast (actually the NSW Flora says south to Wollongong). I have one in my garden too, though it hasn't done much good. Natural habitat is said to be woodland and heath in sandy more or less permanently damp sites on the coast. As a planted thing, I'd be inclined to delete the record, since the site is supposed to be for naturally occurring plants, not garden plants.

Yes, Banskia robur. It occurs in sandstone swamps as far south as about Mount Kembla (southwest of Wollongong). An impressive plant in flower.
