Hi Loumcc - Doesn't look like Eucalyptus longifolia bark. Need more closeup detail I think; Buds, fruit, (you might find some capsules under the tree) and bark detail. If you click on your sighting and then the edit button, you can add more photos. Looks like a stringybark, but need the fruit capsules to say which.
Hi Loumcc - Ok, definitely stringybark. Your photo of the capsules doesn't show deformation to the sides as in E agglomerata, leaving three possibilities. Could I get you to redo the fruiting capsules photo? Best would be to find some capsules still attached to the twig, arranged so that I can see whether they have pedicels (individual stalks) and if so, how long they are. Also need a ruler in the photo giving an indication of the length of pedicels and showing maximum diameter of the capsule. If you can't find any more fruit capsules, just do your best to arrange and measure what you've got. Cheers, Max
Hi Lou - Your detail of the fruit was well done and did the trick. Generally for plant ID from photos, it's worth including as much distinctive detail as you have available. Close ups of fruit, flowers, bark, adult leaves (and juvenile leaves and flower buds for Eucalypts) all help.
