User's notes

At first I thought it was an eel lbut it's different..It's nose and mouth looks like a minature shark..My friend suggested a garfish, but it has no spike.

It is indeed a type of eel, Narelle. It's nocturnal and lives buried in soft sediments such as beach sands or estuaries. Here's some more information, including photos of living fish:
