Yes. Definitely SO. One parent was nearby when I came across it then the other appeared and shooed me away. No doubt - SO's. Egg is also much bigger then RCP but doesn't show in the photo.
Hi again, we went down this morning and egg gone but there were a pair of Pied Oystercatchers on the beach. These do nest on beaches with a similar egg and all the literature checked confirms SOs nest on rocky islands, occasional rocky headland in the past, but no records on sand. Can we make it an uncertain? Cheers
Hi. I help with the nesting shorebird monitoring and am absolutely confident but I understand that it is impossible to moderate. No Pied Oystercatchers were there that day and it was sooties that chased me off. No worries.
