User's notes

I think young ones, as they were very quiet, sitting under a shrub initially. One flew off, the other stayed so I could take photos.

Hi Patricia, Yep, definitely juvenile plumage, and I think, based on our CSIRO field guide illustrations of juvenile plumage, that they are common, not brush, as you suggest. Common brushwing juvs look to have more pale feathers on the forehead than brush.

It was the markings around the eye that led me to suggest Common Bronzewing, even though there is no obvious colour on the wings.

According to the CSIRO book, the juvs of both have very similar white lines round the eye. It's a very useful book that way - most field guides don't have such good illustration of juvenile plumage, if any.

Hopefully they will hang around until adult, then I’ll know for sure!
