Yes we thought it was a mosquito just wanted to find out what species.

I've just looked through a list of possible species in this region. It may be Culex molestus, based on the pale golden colour. If you can get one under a microscope or magnifying glass you may be able to identify it with confidence. The features used for distinguishing mosquitoes include the length of the proboscis, the colours of the legs.
