This adult Moorhen is on a nest on the foundations of the old bridge over the Anabranch on Tarragandra Rd. She has at least six chicks - look closely at the four underneath her (!), plus the one in the background, plus one out of shot.

Aw, cute. Maybe she will beef up the local population a bit. I find it odd that there are so many coots and hardly any moorhens down here.
