This morning’s Platypus walk along known ponds on the Anabranch revealed at least four animals, possibly more. This was good as I was concerned to see whether there was any sign as yet of impact from the bushfire ash fallout on water chemistry which might affect invertebrate numbers and hence Platypus food supply. So far so good.
I have been wondering about the impacts of all this ash in the Ph of water bodies and their animals too. I have been looking at sea hares and nudibranchs in the estuaries and there are a few unusual observations. Let's keep making observations. It's good to have more platypus records in the database. thanks.
