Looks like a Common Starling changing from juvenile to adult plumage. Were there others nearby?

Hi there, yes the photo isn't the best is it. Apologies. I can confirm it was definitely not a starling - being a Kiwi I have seen many in my life, up close and personal. This wasn't one. It's body was more like a Noisy Friarbird but I think it's understandable if this is categorised as an inconclusive sighting.

Hey Chris and Jubey, the Common Starling is a very positive ID I have seen it in that state a few times regards Charles

Hi Jubey, was it the size of a Satin Bowerbird as they can be motley looking when coming into breeding plumage though the bill looks black rather than bone. Cheers Chris
