User's notes

This looks like twining glycine but the flowers are much pinker than others I've seen. Same species or a variation?

Hi Steph, We have a dark flowered and a paler flowered version on our place at Brogo, with various other differences too like hair colour on the stems, but when I sent them off to Sydney Bot Gardens they were both identified as Glycine clandestina. So I've pretty much given up on Glycine now and call them all clandestina, except for the obvious G. tabacina, which has the central leaflet on a much longer stalk than the side ones and is very common in open sunny areas. But in shady, forested sites, it is all clandestina as far as I'm concerned. There is supposed to be G. microphylla around on the south coast too, but it is said to be stoloniferous (spreads by above-ground runners) and I have never seen any Glycine doing that. It's probably a genus that needs some work!
