Cannot identify this Christmas Beetle attracted to our outside light.

Hi Andrew, I see Kim ID'd this one OK, but I recall from a holiday job I once had at CSIRO sorting and counting Xmas beetles from the light trap in Canberra that a view of their back end is helpful. The colour and hairiness of the bit that protrudes past the wing cases on the upper surface (tip of abdomen I guess) is useful. Just for future reference. Jackie

Hi Jackie, thanks for that advice. It appears from other comments on terrestrial invertebrates I need to get closer (if possible) with my camera to the subject and take it from both ends, and the side. I took only three shots of the Xmas beetle. Here is the third heavily cropped, which hopefully shows a little more of what you may be looking for.

Not really - other side up would have been the go, as in the 2nd and 3rd photos in this sighting of ours: https://atlasoflife.naturemapr.org/Sightings/3368950. But yeah in general, the closer the better and the more angles the better!
