2 Hooded Plovers, one with a tag reading R5. A small bird, quail shaped.

R5 is the resident male Hooded Plover at Bunga/Hidden Valley. Sadly, he lost his long term partner U6 early this year but two weeks later had paired up with this unflagged female.

R5 was flagged in February 2014 and, as far as I know, he's been at Bunga/Hidden Valley ever since.
I monitor this beach (and a few others) at least once a week between August and February as part of the Shorebird Recovery Program.
