Round, chocolate brown cap, 5 cms across, with slightly scalloped edges and changes in colour where the cap has split or weakened. Gills can be seen slightly protruding from the cap. The cap is slightly fluted in shape. Gills are a mix of light and dark brown in colour and not uniform in shape or size, narrow near the edge and growing bigger towards the stalk. Stalk was slightly wider at the top than the bottom and whitish under the cap with the rest a slightly darker colour. It was 1 cm wide. Both cap and stem felt very firm to the touch.
