Thanks Libby, I was extremely fortunate to come across this snake crossing the road and was able to take this photo out the car window.

Pity the head is out of shot, but the very dumpy build and the fine, pale tail tip makes it pretty definitely a death adder and not a tiger snake, the other markedly stripey species.

Yes Jackie it is a pity. The entire snake was in the shot but it was cropped when I uploaded it to this site. Is there any way around this happening?

If you take your photos with a phone, then I've no idea. If with a camera, then we usually process ours on the computer before uploading them, cropping to the square shape that the site seems to default to, and resizing to 800x800 pixels. That way you get to control what appears, zoom in on useful ID features etc, rather than just uploading the photo as you took it.

Did you take the photo and upload it through the app?

I will have another attempt to resize it, thanks for the advice. I uploaded it from my computer.

That's great, let us know if you have any problems - you should be able to get its head in I'm sure!

OK, now you've got it! Always good to zoom in for a bit more detail. Even if you only got the one shot you can still crop out different bits as you've done.
