Hi Lisa - nice record. It's a female Black-faced Percher. Could you let me know what sort of habitat this was in- the location marker suggests it was in forest. This species normally is found at heavily-vegetated swamps or ponds. The females may venture into nearby woodland when still young before returning to water. Any comments you can provide would be appreciated.
Thank you. Yes, there is thick bush around where the dragonflies are (there are a lot of them in the area), but they were most obvious on the cleared verge and towards the road. There are a number of dams around this area - a few hundred of metres away. I didn't take photos of all the dragonflies I saw - too hard, but I think there were other species? Hope that helps.
