Not an orchid, though I agree it does have that look to it. It is a Lobelia, but it could be either L. dentata or L. gibbosa, and I can't tell which without seeing the leaves (toothed in the case of dentata). I know L. dentata is pretty much only seen after fire, and I suspect gibbosa is the same.

Hmm, and now I realise these are not recent photos, it may not have been appearing after fire either. But as a general rule that's what it does. Maybe also after other disturbances such as logging.
