User's notes

Plants shooting in burnt 'rainforest' section of gully. Before the bushfire the small trees growing there were about 5 metres tall, with dark green foliage. They had small white flowers early in the year. The trunks are smooth and grey and can still be seen in the second photo. I thought they could be Acronychia oblongifolia (yellow-wood). I'm hoping this is a young one that is reshooting.

Hi Joy, You are probably right, but I am not game to confirm it from these photos. I think of yellowwood as having leaves shaped like an old fashioned shoe horn, and these are a bit pointy for that. I can't think of anything much else they could be, although brittlewood, Claoxylon australe, could be a contender. I can say that the climber in the photos is Calystegia marginata, a native, which has been going crazy everywhere since the fires.
