That’s really interesting. That’s what my plant id app said but I thought it must have been wrong because hubby said he was sure it came up by itself - ie, wasn’t planted. The id app also says it’s invasive. Hum…
Phoenix canariensis is invasive and readily comes up from seed. It is very spiky and should be got rid of as soon as possible. When large it is very difficult to dig up.

In all seriousness I look after plants on all the Naturemapr platforms in NSW, I check them every couple of weeks and go through sightings as practice using keying species that i'm not overly familiar with. I find anything found to the west of us to be pretty challenging but have a relatively good knowledge of coastal flora. Looking forward to seeing some sightings from you down here.
