Thanks Brian. In that case it'.s a forest Cricket in the family Stenopelmatidae and does agree with the pictures in Rentz. More haste less speed.

Hi Rodger, I believe Penalva is currently in the family Anostasomidae, which along with Stenopelmatidae and Gryllacrididae make up the superfamily Stenopelmatoidea. However I am happy to be corrected. This is more recent taxonomy, after the Rentz and John 1990 paper.
