Hi @plants, I was just wondering what makes you think these are long bills? None of the birds in the image have a particularly long bill and they lack most of the other diagnostic features. Liam
I can see what you mean (assuming this is the top bird, which also exhibits a little more pink), but I wouldn’t be willing to call any of these birds a Long-bill (potentially the top bird could be a hybrid but it’s more likely to be the lighting). You’re correct in saying that the amount of red varies, but Long bills always have at least a band on the forehead and some in the throat, which none of these birds possess. It’s also probably important to note that they are seldom reported from the south coast (aside from a few locations).
I’ve discussed it with Luke (one of the other moderators) as well, and he agrees that they all look good for Little Corella, so I think it’d be best to leave it as such until proven otherwise
