I would like to see the large front claws ,they are usually purple in colour if it is Leptograpsus variegatus.
Maybe you could check our species lists and see if you can see something similar to your sighting narelle ?

Hi Liz, I checked the species lists and yes this crab did look like the Leptograpsus variegatus with the large front claws.

Next time I will take more notice. Most of the crabs I see around here are an olive green like this one. And then there are others that are more solid and more reddish. I will see if I can get a photo of one of those.
