This was more a photo of being in the right place at the right time and noticing the dragonfly kept returning to one area.

Hi Ross - nice in-flight shot! The markings on the thorax and the prominent T-shaped black mark on the head distinguish this species.

Thank you, I didn't know whether there was enogo to ID it. I also posted this on my Facebook and was amused by someone who wrote, "That is so beautiful, with a gorgeous look it's face!" It does look like it's smiling if we anthropomorphise it but, of course, they're simply markings.
