Hi Norm, It does look like it could be that species - looks similar to photos of mine I've had confirmed as that. However, I'm not able to confirm it for sure. A shot of the gills would have been good. They should be white, not yellow. And next time can you put the other photos up separately rather than making them insets on the main photo - I couldn't get a decent look at them. And if you've found a website with an image that is similar, stick its URL in the comments so I can also go there for a look. Ta.
Hi Jackie, thanks for your prompt reply. I was not aware that the images were inserts I'll try to avoid that next time. This is a striking fungus and a bit hard to keep away from, hence, I have multiple images of at various times during its' life cycle. It may not be as I have identified as the gill colour changes from a white/cream through a honey colour (I guessed this might explain the common name 'Australian Honey Fungus'), to a reddish tinge. I have a range of references I use when trying to identify fungi, this one is often useful. http://www.elfram.com/fungi/fungi_home.html and includes this fungus. Can send more images if required. Norm
The white gills was a bit of a throw away line based on the colour in my pictures of it, but they would certainly change colour as they age. But you are not going to get a definite ID out of me on that species whatever additional photos you come up with. There are a few distinctive species I recognise, but that isn't one of them. Teresa might do better when she gets back from hols and on the job again.
