I found these on the gum tree in our front yard

I suspect these are Poecilometis patruelis, a species often found on Eucalypts. There are a couple of adults and lots of nymphs in your images. The link below has photos of all the life stages.

Agree that it looks like P. patruelis, but hard to be sure as I can't see enough colour detail.
