What a stunning little bird. He/she was flitting around a family of Superb Fairy Wrens, I had never seen one before, so am quite excited... just wish the lighting was better at the time! :D

Good shot anyway, and with a nicely displayed rufous fan. Looks like a juvenile from the faintness of the black breast markings. Perhaps that's why it was being a bit more confiding than they usually are. Its unusual to get a crack at a photo without some foliage or something in the way.

haha, believe me Jackie, there were plenty of 'foliage' rejects and blurred rejects. It was late afternoon and trying to balance lighting with such a quick little character was a challenge. I may have said a few whispered swear words along the way... ;-)
