I assume this is a little wattle bird with camellia pollen, but it returned with what seemed to be the same amount of yellow over three days.

Hi Sue - I think it's got to be a little wattlebird and your pollen theory sounds right to me. Birds will often work flowering plants hard while the resource lasts.
