The brown gerygone has a white line above the eye, based on where you are I am thinking it is a brown thornbill

Yep, looks like a brown thornbill to me too. Not having much luck with the gerygones Ross. But keep looking. I find they are mostly in wettish gully situations. Max got shots of them in the Berrambool rainforest gully, or rather the scrubby approaches to it.
