Hi Charles - do you think this might be Simosyrphus grandicornis? The 'face' looks pale, and there looks like there might be a yellow stripe along the dorsolateral of the thorax. Yes, I just had a look at the high res pic of it and unfortunately only 3 pics in flight, but I do agree with your ID Simiosyrphus grandiscornis as it looks very close when you match up a few pics of this species, they are never easy.
