With alternate leaves it could be Lobelia purpurascens. This is a common small herb - but hard to tell from this pic.

I don't think it is that. The thing in the background looks more like Goodenia heterophylla. I'm afraid I'm going to keep rejecting these photos as unidentifiable, otherwise they'll just go on cluttering up the system forever.
