nice insect! it certainly appears to be the species you suggested ... Tropidoderus childrenii. It is one of only a couple of green stick insects in this region, and the broadened femur (upper leg) on the middle and back pairs of legs fits the description of that species. Can you estimate the overall size? It looks quite large!
9 cm from top head to rear end as in the photo it extends for about the length of the handle on trailer flap to the bend. Not counting when it's front legs were extending forwards. So quite large cf ordinary stick insects.
that size fits for Tropidoderus childrenii ... the adult size for males is about 110-120mm and for females 105-140mm. Yours may have been a sub-adult (nymphal) female.
