A Boletoid fungus of some description. I was wondering if they are possibly small aged Phlebopus marginatus!? Though I'm unable to see the stipe (stem), which would be very robust. Do you know this species? Were ther any pine trees growing nearby as another group could be one of the Suillus species.

If they had robust stems they are most probably Phlebopus marginatus. Which tend to come up in the same area year after year.

Thanks Pam! I will check the trees nearby when I'm next there. And I will note the importance of getting better photos of the stipe.
