Nice find Rojan! Looks like it was either tangled in a spider's web, or it was in the midst of weaving its own cocoon. Perhaps next time you find an interesting caterpillar, keep and raise it through to the adult. For many moths, there is a real need for such 'life history' studies.

Caterpillar looks quite mature. Psilogramma casuarinae caterpillars have both green and green and brown forms (LBH),.
