I think this is Gould’s long- eared bat as the post-nasal ridge did not appear to be as developed as in Lesser long-eared bat. Underparts appeared pale grey.
Hi Maggie, if the poor little critter was dead, as it appears, could you get a close-up shot of its muzzle so we can have a look at this post-nasal ridge business? I'm not so sure about the belly fur, as some of it looks quite whitish. Also measurements could be helpful. The length of the forearm bone between the thumb which is the little hook on the wing joint and the start of the next bone back towards the shoulder might help distinguish between gouldii (40-48mm) and geoffroyi (32-42mm according to my bat book). Otherwise we can just confirm it as Nyctophilus sp.
