I have confirmed this as Manulea replana: Lichen Moth or Lichen eating Caterpillar after Bold Systems 4. Lepidoptera Butterfly House names it Brunia replana with a synonym Lithosia dispar. See: http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/arct/replana.html . All three names are recognised as valid by the Australian Faunal Directory (AFD) which confirms L. dispar as a synomym of B. replana. The AFD calls M. replana a 'Generic Combination' of B. replana. I have entered these two other names as 'synonyms' of M. replana on this website.

Thanks for clarifying these discrepancies, I take it that it is a Noctuid moth?

Thanks Ian. I understand that this is an evolving area. When I started, I was advised to use the Checklist of the Lepidoptera of Australia, Nielsen, Edwards, Rangsi.
John, this moth belongs to the family Arctiidae.
