This one was way to small for me to get up under to photograph the gills, l went back the next day hoping l would be able to but it was no longer there. It was only a few feet from the red one, and the only one l could fine. Taking this photo of it l had to place my camera on the ground as it was so small.
I appreciate the issues. Still it's a good photo of a nice looking little fungus. Maybe at some other time another one will come up there. Sometimes if you have a mirror you can get to see the gills.
I hope so, every day l walk through the same area looking, but yet to find another, and yes next time l will try using a mirror, thank you for the tip it’s greatly appreciated.
Hi, Just as well you said where you found it, as the google earth image has it in the sea off Nadgee Lake. Dunno how you got the location in there (GPS in camera or phone, manual entry of a grid reference, stick the pin in the map) but something has clearly gone horribly wrong! You could manually edit the location by zooming out on the map, dragging it north to Tura and clicking on the pin symbol then on the correct location. Jackie
Thanks Jackie, with each photo l loaded l couldn’t place it at Tura Beach, l enlarged the map to look for Tura Beach and as l enlarged it the green marker went on and l couldn’t move it. It happened with all the photos l loaded today. All photos are taken on my DSLR Camera I’m not sure if l can do a GPS tracking on it. So my apologies for the error. All fungi photos submitted today were all taken in the nature reserve at Tura Beach. Regards Tracey.
Hi Tracey, You still haven't got the pin quite in the reserve, if you meant the area surrounded by High Cres and Nolan Drive. You just have to make sure not to click on the pin icon and drag at the same time or you open street view, which can be a bit alarming. And hold down control and use the scroll wheel on the mouse to zoom in and out (what you do if you don't have a mouse I wouldn't know) or click on the + and minus symbols. And hold the control button down and left click then drag to move the map north or south etc. But stick with it - nice photos and worth putting up. Don't be discouraged by the lack of a positive ID as fungi are one of the hardest groups to ID from a photo. But as Pam said, if you try for as many different angles as you can get, it will improve the odds. Same applies to most things really - plants, insects, frogs and lizards. You at least need top down and side-on, and for fungi up from underneath too.
