This species is fairly distinctive with it's light coloured cap (pileus) with those very dense dark brown scales around that shallow central disc swelling (umbo) of the pileus. Then these scales will thin out to varying degrees towards the edge of the pileus, though stay entire at the central disc. The gills (lamellae) may start off as a pale pinkish buff though becoming greenish (a distinguishing character) often stainung reddish when bruised. POISONOUS.
