Hi Max, thanks for the clarification. Could you please send me a link to where I can find the field guide? Cheers
Mick

Hi Mick,
My field guide is a book: "Australian Marine Life" by Graham J Edgar. Reprinted in 2003.
Your first "on line" resource would be this site's species menu. Go to the top of this page click on >
Species > Marine Invertebrates > Crabs Prawns and Allies > Crabs. Then scroll down and see if you can find your crab.
I did a quick Google search for - Shore crabs in New South Wales - and found a useful .pdf : "Estuarine Shore Crabs of New South Wales" Which has images and text on both your species and quite a few others. You can also do an image search on - Shore crabs in New South Wales - which will open up many images and associated resource pages to visit.
Cheers,
Max.
