Another Truffle found in a Lyre-bird scrape. This one was white and still had its 'roots' attached, but no obvious sign of a stem when cut in half to reveal the irregular chambers. No latex was expelled on dissection. Only a single specimen found amongst the dirt and litter.
Great find. It's possible this is one of the Russula 'truffles' in the Russulaceae family. Though with all these an image of the spores will confirm or otherwise that ID. Were you able to get an image of the spores? Good to see this group of fungi are being found. This is the time of the year to be looking for them. If you could also note the nearby vegetation, as they are mycorrhizal, it will greatly help our understanding of these associations.
