Hi Rob,
Going on the feather colour and leg length I think it has to be an egret, but not identifiable to species level, hence not much use as a sighting.

I guess I should have turned it over to see if it had any cattle egret coloration. It is dairy country. (I was with small children)

Indeedy. Don't take this the wrong way but I'm going to reject the sighting. There's not much point having it cluttering up the unidentified records forever if it can never be ID'd for certain.
