I have gradually worked out that glabrata has larger paler flowers and sericea smaller and darker, but in general to be sure of telling between the two you need a photo of the base of the plant showing whether it is a compact tussock (sericea) or has a trailing leafy stem (glabrata). People always seem to assume a photo of the flower will do the trick, but they are practically identical in this pair.

In this second photograph, just now I observe that the spathe does appear quite hairy.
