It was about 40 cm long. It just stayed on the path when we stepped over it. Not in a hurry to slither away.

Goodness, it must have been either cold or injured. Ours at home are always very slippy about getting under cover and hence almost impossible to photograph. Good shots. I'll add them to the ID pages for that species.
