User's notes

Rubbery, fleshy, misshapen looking fungi. Found growing from trees that were standing and lying dead on the ground.

Unfortunately a little too mature for me to be able to give you anything more than that it's a gilled fungus, an Agaric. Sorry.

Does it need to be smaller for identification Pam? We seem to have heaps of them.

If you are seeing heaps of them images of fresher ones would be useful. These ones look a little sodden with water and age which is making their characteristics hard to distinquish. I suspect they may be either a Crepidotus or Pleurotus. If you've noticed any colour changes in them and if the gills are going a browner colour with maturity or are always a pale colour this would also help.

Pam, I have uploaded another photo of (I think) a younger specimen. This was taken at a different spot and was not included initially as I wasn't sure it was the same type of fungi. The picture contains half of the fungi (the underside) above the top. Does this help?
