As the juvenile foliage looks exactly like the Commersonia we have on the far south coast (rossii), I'm going to call it that rather than the very similar C. fraseri. They resprout off the roots after fire with a single fire-killed plant frequently turning into a whole thicket of suckers. The leaves shed hairs, which make things very unpleasant if inhaled while you are pushing through them!

Hi Evelyn
One plant person called it A. fraseri and said the key is in the following reference but I could not understand it. Here is the reference to the 'new' genus
Wilkins, C.F. & Whitlock, B.A. (2011), A new Australian genus, Androcalva, separated from Commersonia (Malvaceae s.l. or Byttneriaceae). Australian Systematic Botany 24(5): 286-287. The paper will have a key to the species.
See if you can Cheers Chris
