Photo by Matthew Higgins. One spider about 2 cm across the body. No idea of the binomial of this critter, but pretty sure it's a birdpoo spider, and guessed it's in with the crab spiders. Possibly genus Phrynarachne? The location was actually Black Range but the camera settings are possibly confusing the website. The second photo was added on 21 April as the spider stayed in the same place for several days.

Bird dropping spider, Celaenia excavata. In the orb weaver family (Araneidae), but doesn't make an orb web.

Thanks Kim. Yes, it seems to make a small irregular web close to where it crouches.
