Darker form of button beetle (paropsisterna or dicranosterna) like that of an earlier post (4257741). Bad photo, I'm sorry. Can't get them to stay still.

Certainly looks pretty good, although the 8 markings are not so obvious on your animal. I think that was the most similar thing on CNM. But I'd like to have Kim check it.
Yes I think this is Paropsisterna octosignata. The second image seems to show a tinge of red on the sides of the pronotum, which is not typical of that species, as stated at https://sites.google.com/site/paropsisternablackpages/paropsisterna-octosignata. However that same website shows a Victorian individual that does have a red-margined pronotum.
